Inter-House Music Final

Back for the second year and beautifully performed in Ranmore Hall with full stage and lighting effects, the Inter-House Music Competition Final attracted a record audience of family and peers to see young musicians and vocalists perform. With categories for Lower and Upper School, Musical Theatre and Sixth Form, over thirty-two students delighted the audience and judges.

Judges included Lady Louise O’Connor DL, Samantha Baldwin from Surrey Arts, Jessica Taylor from Box Hill School, and Michael Malanaphy form The Ashcombe School. The range of musical sources and inspirations moved from The White Stripes, Adele, Hamilton, The Little Mermaid to Janacek, Heifetz, by way of Ozzy Osbourne and Olivia Newton-John – something for everyone!

The standard was so high that no-one envied the judges their task and all the participants deservedly received rapturous applause. Winners were: Howie – Lower School for his drum piece, Merryn – Musical Theatre for ‘Not for the Life of Me’ from Thoroughly Modern Millie, Harvey – Upper School for his piano piece, Zai – 6th Form for ‘I’m here’ by Cynthia Erivo and Flo – Overall winner for her flute solo.

A huge well done to all who entered, and to Mr Houston and Mr Ashwood for the event.
