Queen’s Green Canopy Tree Planting at Nonsuch Park
On National Tree Planting Day, Friday 11th March, on behalf of the Lieutenancy, Deputy Lieutenant, Brigadier Roger Hood, joined by the Mayor of Epsom and Ewell, the Mayor of Sutton, and 40 garden volunteers and guests, attended Nonsuch Park to plant an Acer tree and dedicate a new avenue created by the Nonsuch Voles.
The Nonsuch Voles is a volunteer group that was formed in 2011 by a small group of local residents who offered to help with gardening in the Nonsuch Mansion House gardens at Nonsuch Park. At the same time, active woodland management had just been re-introduced to selected areas of woodland, and a woodland volunteer group was also started. Since then, the Voles have met regularly two days a week to carry out practical woodland and gardening work.
The official opening of ‘Acer Walk’ was dedicated to honour Pauline Innes, who was one of the founder members of ‘The Friends of Nonsuch’
