Welcome to the website of The Surrey Lieutenancy

Michael More-Molyneux

Here you can find information and updates on the role and activities of the Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux, and the ways in which the Lieutenancy supports and impacts on the life, business and communities of our county.

The role and mission of the Surrey Lieutenancy is to serve the Sovereign and connect the communities of the county. This brings the Lieutenancy two core responsibilities:

– To uphold the dignity and position of the Crown by assisting and representing it in all aspects of the life of Surrey.

– To support the values the Crown represents by celebrating, inspiring and promoting the vibrancy of county life.

Spring has arrived and I feel fortunate to be able to enjoy the extraordinary landscape and woodland which Surrey has in such abundance. This is the season traditionally associated with new life and potential. Everywhere the trees are coming into bud, leaf and flower. While the season heralds the optimism and the energy of longer days there are many individuals and families in Surrey experiencing great pressures and for whom this year is proving very tough.

I am heartened every week by the exceptional examples of compassion, commitment, generosity and inclusion which I see when visiting charities, healthcare providers, schools and businesses across the county. There are so many examples of excellence and service often delivered by wonderful groups of volunteers and in numerous creative ways. I encourage everyone who is able, to think of those in their community who may need support.

I hope that over the Easter holiday we can pause to consider each other and ways in which we can support our community.

Across the Lieutenancy our thoughts are with HM The King and HRH The Princess of Wales and all those undergoing treatment of any kind and those who are enduring suffering, loss or illness.  I hope that over the Easter holiday we can pause to consider the ways in which we can support one another and our communities

Michael More – Molyneux
